yes.
january post. please forgive me for being M.I.A. i took the break as a real real break and decided to regroup, re-source and recycle (?). here's a little sketchbook love until i get some real work done...

i did this painting right before the end of this semester.
it's kind of autobiographical- but a bit involved to get into. it didn't end up looking exactly as i envisioned; i should have used more reference, maybe?
interestingly enough, getting what you want isn't always the best thing. i wanted a break so bad, but now it feels like it's gone on for too long. i can't complain about the chance to sleep, but there are just so many things attached to being in school and being in the studio that is hard to replicate at home. regardless, i am trying my best to read a lot and keep drawing and painting. keep keep on, right?
here's a doodle from before school let out,
the year is half over and that means i have but four more months to relish before i have to start sleeping normally again. that, and worrying about OSAP.
i worked on a painting until thirty minutes before presenting my portfolio to harvey. the scary thing is, it's not like i've been slacking or doing nothing at all. i've actually committed quite a bit of time to my work this year.
i just finished a presentation for information illustration class, donna brought in seven or so art directors to critique our work. ...Read more
sorry for the long week without updating my blog. it has been just that, a long week, (of sorts). here is something i did earlier in the year, i don't have anything recent scanned yet because they are all kinda big. that, and i've been kinda lazy to scan. e100 smells funny sometimes.
the illustration council is having a christmas sale real soon. they'll be selling some hand decorated bags, and some... bags.. and some boxes. i did two of the boxes, one of which i got very involved in. i kinda realized that the gifter who buys the box to package their gift in is going to give it to their giftee, who will in turn, upon finding an- oh i dunno, iPod or something just as small and wicked it- will absent-mindedly chuck my nice little box away.
knowing this, i decided i should at least keep a record of the dr...Read more
yuta has convinced me to turn this small painting into a "study" for something larger. i did it in september, feeling cold at the time.
i'm taking a short break from my essay for world lit. and figure a lot of you guys must be plowing away like me. hopefully if you have decided to take a break and by chance visit here, i'll have prepared a nice visual break for you in this painting, (too many words, more pictures please).
i just finished this painting, (part of a series) on a wave of erotic energy. painting it and the recent narrative assignment took me to places where i felt i hadn't been for so long. i'm still trying to figure some things out stylistically, but i'm beginning to appreciate my work more.
i did this during the thursday morning business lecture, while kathryn gave us some good advice on what to expect when we get out of Sheridan.
these have been keeping me busy for the last week. while i was working on one, the other seven were posted up on my corkboard. it was nice wallpaper while it lasted. ultimately, (as in, by 1pm today) this is going to be a little booklet-type thing. it has a story, i won't be posting the story/full spreads, but here's the work:
