Hospital Bed

As i lie here in the hospital bed, i've nothing else to do but watch the tv in front of me. I've been watching the news all day about the disaster happening in China. Right now at this moment, a live charity show is going on on tvb. Seeing all the Hong Kong singers get togeher and put in their best effort for a last minute fund raising show is very heart warming. Maybe to you audience it's just singing a song or two but please do appreciate all the hard work, last minute rehearsals and waiting time involved plus sacrifcing their precious time. They have raised a lot of money tonight. However, please do not just wait for the rich ones to donate their tens or hundreds of thousands. Remember they are not the only ones who belong to this Universe we are living in it too, we are all part of it. Every single dollar counts.

Rozy went on a charity visit to Indonesia and watched the post trauma and rebuilding of the tsunami affected areas. Years have passed and they are still rebuilding it. So please do not think this disaster in China is over once you stop seeing it on the news.

Having lost a good friend of mine last year end, I feel the painfullness of having a loved one leave me. Now that was a good friend of mine. Have you ever thought about losing a family or all of your family members suddenly and on top of it,

you have no where to go,

no where to cry,

no one to cry to,

no home to return to.

where is your mum?

where is your sister?

where is your best friend?

where's your school?

is this a nightmare that you can wake up from?

obviously not

can you imagine that?

.

If you wonder why i'm hospitalised, it's due to a serious allergy and Rozy's here taking care of me 24hr, we feel bad we're not there with the other singers putting in our part. If you worry about me, pls save it for the more unfortunate ones and do click on the links on the homepage of alivenotdead and do your part. Every dollar counts.

Let us all live in harmony, we all need each other. We are all connected.

My mum's domestic helper in Singapore is from Myanmar. When i was back in Singapore for a week, I see how painful she felt as she couldn't reach her family at all...all connection was lost. Is her house gone? Is her mum and her sisters still alive? She can't return to look for them due to political reasons. The embassy has no helpful information. And from the news, the government forbidded foreign aid for a few days and refused to distribute food and water to the survivors. How sick is that?

Here in Hong Kong in my hospital bed, I feel extremely fortunate I'm receiving treatment from good doctors, good nurses,I have a bed to lie on, I know my family who's worried for me are safe at home. This is something millions of people around the world are deprived of.

Well Race for whatever reason you are in hospital, get well soon. TVB is doing a fantastic job and it was supposed to have been finished at 23:30. But it is extending it with good will to try get more donation. What more than I say, the donations are flooding in and thank you for doing all the hard work. I am deeply moved.

One of the hardest things to manage in the aftermath of a natural disaster is the acceptance of bad luck. We like things that have meaning or reason and the lack of reason is sometimes harder to deal with than accepting responsibility for bad luck. Bad luck seems too fickle a phenomenon to be the cause of such catastrophy. Unfortunately many people who survived but lost loved ones will suffer a second time as they try to apply reason - they will feel they were being punished for something. The first photo in your blog here exudes the question "Why?" and is heart wrenching. In the coming days many people will make things worse by trying to put a spin on the tragedy taking advantage of people's desires to know why and making many of them suffer again by thinking they were not good enough people or somehow deserved this. There are practical things to be done - incrase earthquake ready architecture. But - even in San Francisco which suffered in the 20's from an earthquake disaster, suffered again in the late 80's - despite their knowledge of earthquake preparedness. So, there is just bad luck sometimes. It's a very sad event. Race, sorry to hear you're in the hospital. You have a sensitive heart, make sure that you are getting some exposure to some hopeful and positive things (and not overwhelmed with this tragedy) to help you heal.
