Go to a busy park, lie on your back on the grass, fold your neck back, and see the world upside down. Seeing the world through your own eyes, but from a different perspective is awe-inspiring. You suddenly pay attention to the mechanics of walking. People bounce! They actually look like horses with really long legs. If there’s a constant flow of people walking, you will feel like you’re on a different planet. Especially if it’s nighttime. You suddenly notice things, you’ve seen before, but never had paid attention to. And you have fun while doing...Read more

Just wanted to share a funny appearance of mine. This one is me helping out my friend Ken Ochai in his quest to win a PSA competition. And by helping out, I mean saying “Don’t say…” twice. Yeah, it was a tough job… Did you fill out your copy? Because you know…don’t say…
Remember that Miley Cyrus red carpet interview that I did a few weeks ago? A classmate of mine (Hi Vegard) actually spotted me in some video that he watched, labeled “Most Viewed Videos”. Boy. You can fast forward to about 1:55 into the video. Basically, these dudes just walked the red carpet, holding their little camera and snuck out crowd shots! I really should ask for some kind of compensation. I’m sure my purple dress had a lot to do with the amount of hits they received….NOT!
I volunteer at the Christian Food Center in downtown LA. It’s basically just a place where low-income individuals can get food for a fraction of the price from regular supermarkets. The goods there are usually donated from places like Safeway, Ralphs, CVS or similar chains. More often than not, the items are past the expiration date, but when it comes to stuff like tea bags, I don’t think it’s a big problem. [endif]
I was stacking some food, when a man came through the door. Caucasian, about 40 years old, he was so overweight, that ...Read more
I’ve never been big on technology. It took me days to understand all the buttons on my camera. Heck, I don’t even play videogames really well. I literally have to force my brain to read countless google articles or watch gazillion youtube tutorials before a simple mechanical or technological concept sticks with me. But when it does, wow. Possibilities are endless.
A few months ago, I started getting really interested in gadgets. You know, the fancy stuff boys always play with? Suddenly, the available settings on my camera weren’t enou...Read more
Yesterday, I had the opportunity to do some red carpet interviews for the new Miley Cyrus movie “The Last Song”. No, I’m not going through some kind of career change, but my friend Donna, who usually does these for her Bay Area TV show “Lifestyle Today” (these segments also screen under a different name for a different national station based out of Orange County: SBTN’s “Victoria To Uyen Show”) couldn’t make it down, so she asked me to fill in for the day. So I did.
Part of me wanted to make this an anthropol...Read more
The very first time I ever directed anything was a stage play. Actually it was a Culture Night show for UCLA’s Vietnamese Student Union. For those of you who don’t know… each year, many of those College student organizations put on shows, usually incorporating a narrative of some sort, traditional and modern dances and songs, and most of the time a fashion show as well. I wrote and directed 2004’s “Farewell Indochina”, and since then I’ve been hooked. It was a dramedy, a love story, set against the backdrop of French Colonial Vietna...Read more
A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of hosting a shoot for my friend Kim Le of Kim Le Photography, and lighting the shoot for her. The subject was none other than the amazing DJ Z.
It was a lot of fun. Every now and then I would grab my own camera and just snap a few shots myself.
Take a look at my pics here, and then click onto Kim ...Read more
