Always, every year, December, you hear Nutcracker music in the malls in HK. Maybe everywhere else too. And having done many many Nutcrackers myself, I start seeing the steps in my head, I don't quite break out into a waltz but so easily could.
And a while ago, I read an article about casting without limits which brings up all sorts of pros and cons. I wondered if dead playwrights wouldn't be rolling in their graves knowing all the interpretations going on with their plays. But then again, seeing ...Read more
Went to check out Grounded tonight after meeting a friend in town. This friend and I are soul friends, met in Taipei, then LA, now in HK. So, stopped by at Philia.
There's always something cool going on at Philia, tonight it was the launch party for Dylpostino, inspired hip-hop music. I talked to Dylan for a while, he writes music taken from ancient teachings, regroups them musically and makes these words sound like they were written today.
Here is his website that focuses on his yoga practice and teachin...Read more
Today I had a quick coffee and location scouting session with Bobsy Gaia. He started the Bookworm Cafe on Lamma, and Life Cafe along the escalator in Central. Anyone who is eco- conscious, holistic minded has stopped by here and had lunch or dinner. The LIVE SALAD is a must.
He has a new venture going, a lifestyle cafe, lounge, bookshop, hub for earth conscious people. On 11 Jan 2011, he is giving a talk on the...Read more

Yesterday, had a last minute call to step in and do a small role in a short film. Met a great group of guys, all working together on a short film that takes place in and around a hotel at the time of Swine Flu. It is based on a true story.
The 2 writers, Zach Hines and Yalun Tu have a few other projects in the works, and from talking to them, they have so many story lines stored in their heads.
Joe Martinez is directing this short, he is super cool and professional, so I looked him up......check out his sit...Read more
I went to Speak Up's event even thought I had no sleep the night before. I was exhausted but still stayed on til late in the night. Great performers, huge amount of people turned up, and of course Shore is an awesome venue. Greg Moore was there singing, also Gretchel (!!!) I haven't seen her since she came and did a few at my Jazz Poetry nights.
My friend Dominic stopped by late, great to see him too. He won the lucky draw which was at the end of the night. Awesome prize, he won a $2000 dollar dinner at Shor...Read more

I went to a casting today at this amazing photo studio. Olaf has shot some pretty famous people and in a really artsy way too. The studio was huge and had a series of room set ups, very theatrical, some very Victorian, some french boudoir. Check out his site:

If you are in NYC you must experience this sound installation. 40 speakers, 40 voices, placed in a circle, you stand in the middle surrounded by sound. If you want, you can walk around to each speaker and just listen to one voice, you can feel the sound vibrations. Here is the NYTimes blog post:
