40 Voices by Janet Cardiff

If you are in NYC you must experience this sound installation.  40 speakers, 40 voices, placed in a circle, you stand in the middle surrounded by sound.  If you want, you can walk around to each speaker and just listen to one voice, you can feel the sound vibrations.   Here is the NYTimes blog post:

I was lucky enough to hear this with those 40 speakers a few years ago when Janet first did this installation in a museum.  I felt like I was swirling around and floating out of the space.
