Last week, I went to Shenzhen, Hong Kong and Macau to visit some old friends, hook up with some new ones and buy a special someone that perfect gift.Wait a minute, I got back last week - where did the time go? I got to: listen to Jesse Warren spin tunes at two clubs in Shenzhen (including my favorite place for live music in China - C:Union), listen to Dirt Star perform live in HK at the Backstage with William...Read more
We arrived at the Calcutta airport in the early evening and were met by our local guide. After loading the vehicles with bags that had grown considerably heavier after shopping in Udaipur, we drove towards the center of town. Central Calcutta (officially Kolkata) is about 45 minutes from the airport which was built well away from the city. Along the way, I noticed the construction of new water towers every kilometer or so. Although much of the land is empty, clearly the plan is for the city to expand to...Read more

Will C. ( Made in HK) has been kicking around Beijing for about six months now and we in Beijing decided it was time for him to go home. So we hosted a small dinner party at our place to bid him farewell. He takes with him a wealth of knowledge about where to go and what to do in Beijing, so if you need ideas, pester him with questions - I always do.
Huge welcome and thanks to Read more
Not satisfied with the amount of driving that we had undertaken from New Delhi to Agra and Agra to Jaipur ( see previous post), we loaded up the four vehicles and set out on a three-hour drive for Ranthombore National Park – tiger country. Perhaps, in an alternative universe, it would have taken three hours, but in reality-based driving, the road-trip lasted five hours, three of which were on...Read more
Here' a case of what you can do with a video camera, some good mates, a lot of sheep and some really smart dogs. Motion capture, stills, day and night shots, this video has everything. In case it does not work, here's the link; hopefully YouTube will be back online in China soon:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D2FX9rviEhwVideo: http://www.youtube.com/watch...Read more
If Beijing and Phnom Penh were tossed into a blender, the result would be New Delhi. Of course, this doesn’t do any of these three capitals justice, but within a day of arriving in Delhi, this was my overall impression. I was there to ensure everything was in order for a delegation of socially concerned citizens from the USA to network with eight nongovernmental organizations (NGOs) and partake of a smattering of the cultural and natural wonders that abound along the way as we visited Agra, Jaipur, Ranthambore Natio...Read more
I got back from India two weeks ago and I’m sitting here wondering how that time flew by so quickly. It seems time moves in some quasi physics equation related to the number of days I've been away. Hopefully, that means after this weekend life will resume a more manageable pace. In my spare moments, I've been sorting, deleting and key wording (the bane of photography) about 3,000 images. I'm trying to skim the best of the best off the top so that I can share a manageable amount of photos with all of you. Plea...Read more
I'm finally in India! Yesterday I had some time to visit the Baha'i Lotus Temple and some beautiful tombs in the city, not to mention eat some fantastic Indian food. Unfortunately, I don't have a means to upload photos yet (or time), but I'll try to post up some stuff soon. Until then, I'm alive and kicking in Delhi. And with my wee bit of free time today, I'm off to the National Museam and whatever else I can squeeze in before my dinner meeting and an airport run.
But a brief note about the internet cafe...Read more
Last year, I created an album of shots taken at the end of 2007. The comely young woman on the cover shot seemed to have drawn in a large number of viewers, or perhaps it was just curiosity at what the end of a year looked like in Shenzhen. In any case, I decided to do the same thing for 2008, it just took me a bit longer to post up the album. So without any further ado or gilding the lily, Read more
