Beach Spike! locates locations.
A few months ago, I ran a blog about our quest for a suitable location for our upcoming B&E/T-Films production Beach Spike!, an epic tale of volleyball, kung fu, comedy, romance and stunning Asian girls in bikinis...
At that time, we found a location that seemed like it would work. It wasn't perfect, though; the beach was too narrow at full tide and it felt like it would be a pain to get to every day.
Providence arrived, in the form of my wonderful producing partner Peggy Lee (DOA, Kung Fu Hustle). She located an amazing length of beachfront that had all the elements we'd been looking for:
Primary coloured buildings that we could enhance to create a Venice Beach of the East.
A beachfront restaurant where our leading ladies (Chrissie Chau and Teresa Fu) could work.
Two gates lead the way onto the locale, which also has a waterfront apartment which works as Chrissie's apartment.
It also has a nice, unspoiled stretch of beach beyond.
We also got lucky in that the Hong Kong Beach Volleyball Association have a full-time court erected in the shadow of Tsing Ma Bridge, and this will provide the setting for our climactic tournament.
My only worry is that everyone will be convinced we CGI-ed the Tsing Ma dai kiuinto the shot. (So please note the photographic evidence below and above, unless you think I faked them too...)
All's looking great for a mid-August start date. We're currently casting various 'characters' to bring our bohemian beach to life and also looking for lean, Chinese lady volleyball players. So if you fit either description, please write to Vicki Tang: vicki@bxe-productions.com.
Priority given to AnD members, of course!
