If February were to be assigned a color, it would definitely be RED.With all this business with Valentine's Day and the Chinese New Year, red is overflowing everywhere, especially in Hong Kong.So I suppose its appropriate that 852 FILMS chose now to start promoting their upcoming bloodfest, DREAMHOME. The film is starring Josie Ho and directed by Pang Ho-Cheung and is about a woman who desperately seeks her own "dream home" by any means necessary.Since the film is about an apartment (a fictional one named "Victory Bay", which is actually the chinese name of the film) 852 FILMS thought it would be humorous to make a mock advertisement mimicking all those flamboyant and over-the-top property ads seen all over Hong Kong.I mean seriously, most of these ads don't even show the building! Its usually some girl running in a forest or up a mountain or through a CG palace of glass, accompanied by such voice overs as: "1000 SUNS SHINE ON YOU WITH A VIEW FROM THE HEAVENS!!!""THIS GLORIOUS PATH IS ONLY FIT FOR THE GODS!!!"Yeah. So with that in mind, we set out to put all the pieces together, including a "special guest" that was sure to stir the gossip mags.Me and Conroy can keep a secret! (Don't worry, you'll see who it is soon!)You're only as good as your plan.Me and my partner-in-crime, Mr. Yin going over the shot list.It was quite cold shooting in January. These heatpads were great. Now THIS is what I call a MEALThis is what Simon usually does when he wants to convince someone to "make a video" back at his place. The lovely Josie Ho.And, of course, the special guest is none other than "Mr. Controversy" himself.........EDISON CHEN!Yes, he's back from media purgatory.SO here are some shots from the final piece:In fact, its already getting some buzz in the papers:We shot the whole thing with the CANON 5D mk2 and Sony EX1, but I ended up just using all mk2 footage. We also did the transfer to film at Digital Magic. The advertisment right now can be seen at all BROADWAY THEATRES, in the lobby screens as well as in the theatre before a film. It can also be seen at all RED BOX KARAOKES, in between songs. It was a very fun experience and hopefully will get the buzz going on the film.AnD shout outs:Conroy + Josie for behind-the-scenes photos + videoLast but not least:Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nCgZdn0Gx9c
