Hey, guys.
For a very long time now, I've been wanting to do a blog or, rather, a series of blogs featuring some of my favorite movie scenes of all time. Unfortunately, for one reason or another, I've never really gotten around to it.
Today, however, I was re-watching a scene from Milos Forman's 1984 film, "Amadeus," and decided the so-called "March of Welcome" scene would serve as the perfect opener for this long-delayed series.
For me, what makes this scene one of the greatest of all time is the way it reveals beyond a shadow of a doubt why Salieri is Salieri, why Mozart is Mozart, and why Salieri will never ever be Mozart no matter how many honors His Majesty bestows upon him -- and the scene does so through a wonderfully rich blend of images, sound, performances, writing, direction, etc. The scene also happens to contain one of my all-time favorite reaction shots as well. (Look for it at 8:55.) Apparently, sometimes Forman likes to remind you why he's Forman, too.
Anyway, without any further ado, enjoy...
