What some kids will do to avoid...

Entering a kung fu tournament...

Its again that time of year when I enter my boys in the local version of the Mill Valley Karate Tournament. They still train (under duress!) with my Sifu, and I filled out the forms for them to take part in the Hong Kong Kung Fu Federation's upcoming event.

I lined them each up for a mugshot, and I'm amazed how they have suddenly and mysteriously grown up without my noticing!

Suiting up for Gobie

Olivia channels her inner blue reindeer

I made my first foray into 3D animation with the T-Films production Little Gobie, and I'm constantly amazed at the different aspects of this unique artform. I'm previously made primarily live-action movies with lots of action, and these don't necessarily lend themselves to major merchandising opportunities.

'Little Gobie' is about a little blue reindeer who sets off on a journey to find Santa to claim three Christmas wishes. This film h...Read more

Venomous Encounter

Hanging with Lo Mang

Given that I work in the movie industry, I've met my fair share of venomous insects (and some of them didn't even have law degrees...). Today, it was a genuine pleasure to meet a real, deal Venom in the heart of Hong Kong's Soho.

Kung fu legend Lo Mang achieved world...Read more

Sharks sighted opposite new B&E offices...

...and short human pyramid within!

The offices of my production company, B&E, are located in Wing Lok Street in Sheung Wan (so don't be strangers now, y'all...). The good news is that its in the coolest old school Hong Kong neighbourhood. Every store on the street is selling Chinese medicinal substances of various kinds. The bad news is that Simon Yin loves upstairs, but, then, you can't have everything...

Being the filmaholic I am, I was there Saturday ...Read more

Son of Bolo goes solo

Meeting David Yeung

Hong Kong martial arts movie legend Bolo Yeung is probably better known now in the west than he is in Asia. This beast from the east settled in Monterey Park over 20 years ago, but fans worldwide still remember him for his roles in 'Enter The Dragon' and 'Bloodsport'.<...Read more

New York: Its Up To You...

Little Gobie hits the Big Apple...

Even though I now have my own B&E Productions company, my 'home' studio remains New York-based Weinstein Company, and so it was to Tribeca that I flew with the Little Gobie team (director Tony Tang, producer Charlie Wong, executive producer Lee Yuen-hon...Read more

Training tigers : Inside The Hit Hut

Yeung Pang Pang's new martial arts centre opens its doors.

Kung fu enthusiasts from overseas and locally based performers have often asked me the same question: where can I got to learn martial arts for movies? Lets face it, most fighting arts schools focus on teaching a specific disci...Read more

Filmart 2010

Festival fun with friends from far and wide

If there's anything that gives you confidence in the local film industry, its the great energy that surrounds the annual Hong Kong Film Festival and the Filmart (aka Film Market). Its great that the two events are now staged simultaneously, along with the glitzy Asi...Read more

The Man Who Wasn't Snakehead..

Meeting Steven Berkoff

I narrowly avoided working with Steven Berkoff some seven years ago, when he was short-listed to play the villainous Snakehead in a film wot I wrote: 'The Medallion'. His indefatigable manager, Louisa Spring, had recommended him. (She also provided us with Giml...Read more
