I blogged about this wayyy back when I first joined AnD, but there's a better edited video up on youtube so I thought I'd share with again. Hey, if this video even reaches one more guy out there the world is a better place.
The video I'm about to post is The Door Test from the film A Bronx Tale. Basically the rule is this: You take a girl out, you open the door for them and let ...Read more

Received some goodies in the mail today: Summer IFF tickets and screening tickets for School Days With a Pig
Edko always have the cutest screening tickets. Here are some of the best screening tickets I've gotten during my two years at Beats.
Sparrow, the ticket was inside this cardboard wallet (it's a film about pickpockets)
Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GXpXpYLoCek mentioned this in an earlier post but this gorgeous video deserves a second mention. Jules kinda looks like Emmy Lee Moss at about the 1 minute 15 mark.
Meanwhile, the lead singer of another amazing post-punk band, Interpol, has released his own so...Read more
A few days ago sportswriter Bill Simmons wrote a piece covering his thoughts on the NBA offseason, he did it comparing a specific scenario with a quote from the movie Almost Famous. He went on to call Almost Famous the "defining movie of the decade" (although he admits The Dark Knight could overtake that once the greatness has set in)
Anyway, my initial reaction to the article was "I can't believe this crazy coincidence!". You see, about a week before that, I had this talk with a writer from HK Mag and a USC Sch...Read more
I just re-watched Almost Famous.
Great movie. Simmons wrote on this recently and as always, I'll concur 99% (don't agree that it's the greatest film this decade). A story about a 15 year old boy breaking away from the comfort of home to realize his dream of being a rock journalist. Travels the US with a band, falling in love with both the music and Lady Goodman ...Read more
He may not that be that well known to those in HK. So here's a quick primer:
He came to fame as Eric Forman on popular US show That 70s Show. I loved that show in the early seasons cause it had a decidedly 70s rock and roll feel (later seasons sucked). Anyway, even though Ashton Kutcher quickly became the mainstream breakout star, Topher caught the eye of many filmmakers and landed a few juicy roles. He had a powerful role as a druggie in Traffic, a small part in Mona Lisa Smile, and had two hilarious cameos in...Read more

I just purchased Summer IFF tickets for Johnnie To's Vengeance (GOAT HK filmmaker), Away We Goand 500 Days of Summer. I have no idea what the hell Away We Go is about; I'm just attracted to the poster and the mood of the films and I guess that Sam Mendes can direct a film or two haha. 500 Days of Summer was first recommended to me by my friend Marvin "REAL LAKER FAN" Lee, who despite his love of Common, And1 Streetball and Star Trek, has quite the keen eye for good indie flicks. He's the one who first recommended Lost in Tran...Read more
