Team News – Tan test session successful at Queensland Raceway

The McElrea Racing team headed for Queensland Raceway, to conduct a test session to conduct valuable data for the car and drivers. From McElrea Racing Singapore, was 28 year old driver Yuey Tan, and newly added Rob Knight, a New Zelander that is residing on the Gold Coast.

Queensland Raceway is a circuit that both drivers previously have tested on, also driving at this circuit on various occasions in the past. The unique circuit was designed to be used with 4 different layouts, allowing drivers to practice various techniques on this small and fun circuit. These options include the Sprint, the Clubman, Sportsman, and National, coming in at 1.89km, 2.1km, 2.15km, and 3.12 km respectively.

Located at Willowbank, QR as it is known has been the home for many test sessions in various cars run by McElrea Racing.

“The first time I was run by Andy McElrea on a circuit, it was here! There was some 4 years ago so it’s great to be back here, everytime a test opportunity arises at Queensland raceway,” commented Tan. “We’ve been here time and time again, and we are still finding time at this circuit. It helps to know the circuits! There is obviously no substitute for experience!”

The test session went for 1 day, totaling 110 laps.

“It was great to have run today with Rob Knight,” continued Yuey Tan. “His brake ability right out of the box is awesome, and it pushed me a little to go a little quicker again.”

The circuit wasn’t at it’s fastest on the day, achieving a 1:15.30 on the day for Tan and a 1:16.80 for Knight. Track temperature is a key factor in laptimes at Queensland Raceway.
