Okay, time to geek out a bit here. With all the hype news on the interweb about the new iphone, you’ll probably learn more about it from sites like this one; I thought I’d snap a few pics & mention a few things here before I drop & scratch up my new toy.
“There are simple reasons why the new iPhone 3G is better than the last.
Apple has eliminated so many annoying little hang-ups that you might run into when using the old one. The GPS pinpoints to meters instead of blocks. The 3G connection slashes web loading times by minutes to seconds. The more rounded case feels great in the hand. And most importantly the new software polishes the OS….”
The 3G is fast; I felt like this is how the original iphone should have been like, the 2.o software is a big improvement, there ain’t no jailbreak or installer app yet, but there is an app store with some good free apps, so I’m not sure if it is necessary to jailbreak this at all. Time will tell.
So what’s good with it then? One of the best features of the 3G from Hong Kong is that the phone is NOT LOCKED; you don’t need to ‘activate’ it or Jailbreak it to use other sim cards. Here I have a CSL card working in the phone. Good news for peeps in countries where they ain’t got iphones.
What SUCKS is that you are tied to a 24 month plan with a service provider. This is especially bad news for peeps in countries without iPhones.
One really good deal is this HK$20 iphone cover from Mong Kok. I figured they made some really cheap accessories for the new iphone coz most people who bought the new iphone would be broke, like I am now, & HK$20 for a cover ain’t a bad deal at all.
