Zoo art fair

ok, after Frieze, which was amazing but felt more like entertainment than art, I headed over to the Zoo Art Fair.

This is held very close to Picadilly Circus at the back of the Royal Academy. I found this show much more interesting, a lot more risk taking, a lot younger too. Here's a few photos.

Also, while I've been working in UK I've been staying with some dear friends who have been away. While they were out of town it was my responsibility to walk the dogs every day in Kensington Park so here's a couple of pics of them too. People seem to love dogs but honestly, they just eat and crap, could not imagine having them in HK where there really is nowhere for them to run around.

Simon Birch; artists and dog walker! This is  Puffin and Isla.

This little moster is Lilly who drove me f**king nuts. Bad dog!

me writing this blog!

Zoo exterior.

This sculpture was a ball of water with a  little vortex inside, very cool.

retro video installation, no idea how to rotate the image within the site, sorry.

Painting made entirely from wax.

This is all cut from a sheet of black paper.

Lovely oil painting of a crashed plane in the arctic. nice and random.

Nice punky drawings, funny thing was while I was standing there admiring them who should be  doing exactly the same thing but Malcom McLaren. I probably should have a got a photo of him for this but I'm not much of a groupie, sorry. There were loads of celebrity people at Zoo and Frieze but I'd say the art was more interesting.

speaking of which, great photos  from a guy that only shoots celebrity look alikes.

That sculpture of the clown was actually a real guy and every few minutes he'd move.

video installation using only ipods.

sexy neons.

japanese photographer who sets up shoots where the models look like they've been murdered. really very beautiful.

incredible video. hard to show on a photo but the basic idea was that random thing s kept happening, like the girl in  the red dress suddenly changed to white dress without her moving, or her clothes disappearing as she walked around. The artist would get everyone to freeze while he was filming, then change stuff, then continue filming. Simple idea but brilliantly executed.

Freaky sculpture.

Big silver hand.

Stag head made from cardboard.

When in doubt, write some crap on the wall.

This was a cardboard copy of a Donald Judd peice. Very amusing.

Human heart made from clay.

Entrance hall.
