Merry Freakin' Christmas!
I once got a Christmas card that said that on the inside. The front of the card was a photo of a cat in a Santa hat, and the cat looked distinctly unhappy.
The card was from my mother.
Today is apparently a holiday in Japan. This evening, there will be lots of couples doing a sort of early Valentine's Day. The streets were busy today with people, more so that usual. Must be all that last-minute shopping.
Unsurprisingly, I was exempt from such activity. Instead, I got to walk aroun...Read more
I ended up not getting to sleep until about 4AM last night. I think it was the tea I drank at dinner.
But it allowed me to sleep late and wake up less than an hour before the guitar stores open.
Yes, this is what you're going to read about for at least ten more days.
Unless someone decides she has to give me something for Christmas, and I am 183% certain that it won't happen.
So, back to the curvaceous bodies I cantouch...
At least today it was cold, and within Yahoo's range.

I woke up early. Which makes sense since I was out by 9:00 the previous night. But I stayed in bed and read, and generally forced myself to do nothing until about 9:30AM. At which time I started to get dressed for the day.
Which was made no easier by the f#$%ing brain surgeons at Yahoo:
High 58, Low 41, Currently 66. Nice job, you retarded motherf#$%ers.
So I light off for the territories,...Read more
World's Greatest Vacation Update:
Day .5: Sunday, 12/21
For a week, I had been getting about 4 hrs. sleep a night. Which was a lot easier to do when I was in my 20s.
Because it was the 80s and Peruvian Marching Powder was cheap and plentiful.
But never mind that...
I got to Chek Lap Kok at 6:30. It was as exciting and titillating as it sounds. The same for 'Breakfast at Popeye's'.
A bad idea, I admit.
But I got on the plane, after dropping $400 on overweight luggag...Read more
I am going to have Christmas dinner with the woman in that photograph (and her manager and my interpreter).
I'm notjoking.
I have to get up at 5:30AM to make the airport by 6:30 for an 8:30 flight.
On a Sunday.
But it's not like I have anything better to do. Especially sit around here and watch the pollution conceal mountains that are less than a quarter mile away. It's been out of control lately.
So it will be good to go to Tokyo no matter how early I have to get up. I...Read more
At least when I walked around with a head full of acid, I had a ready-made explanation when I encountered things that were utterly baffling, strange, surreal, and unbelievable.
Sometimes I miss those days, because now, when I experience things that seem unreal, but I know arereal, having to cope with them without the plausible deniability of it being just a hallucination is almost too weird to handle.
Almost...

All About Crap.
The next time someone asks why I am utterly disinterested in Mainland film, I will show them this crime against cinema.
Teaching my goddaughter how to make Heavy Metal faces.
She seems amused, so it's worth it.
Was in Mongkok the other night (was there last night too, but never mind...) at the corner of Nathan and Argyle. I saw the newly refurbished HSBC building, which may have been done to keep up with Hang Seng's snazzy new building across Argyle St.
But in a remarkable show of largesse and and keeping with Mongkok's ethos of 'more huge TV screens equals better living,' I was glad to see that HSBC was pitching in.
