Lately I've been really into The Umbrella Academy series by Gerard Way and Gabriel Ba. Released by Dark Horse comics the story is about six extraordinary kids that were adopted by Sir Reginald Hargreeves and raised to save the world. 20 years later and after their father's death they are brought back together again and forced to work out their dysfunctional family issues while trying to save the planet from the White Violin. The first story "The Apocalypse Suite" won a 2008 Eisner award and features cool covers by James Jean and the legendary Jim Lee. Very cool stuff.....Its been a while since I got into a new series and I'm pretty stoked on the story and artwork. The second story now in progress "Dallas" takes some interesting twists and the character development gets even better.James Jean did some covers and his art is insane. He's starting to get a lot of recognition for his work and just had an amazing show at Jonathan Levine Gallery. Check it outhere. The artwork handled by Gabriel Ba is mind blowing and just makes the story even better. I just love the flow. The Umbrealla Academy....You can check out a preview of the comic here.
