It's a roller coaster ride of emotions of love, loss, guilt and truth, I found myself laughing one minute and crying the next.The story is set against a backdrop of tumultuous events, from the fall of the monarchy in Afghanistan through the Soviet invasion to the Taliban rule and the United States. The main character,Amir, is a well off child who is haunted by the guilt of betraying his childhood best friend Hassan. His cowardice failed to prevent a tragedy from happening to Hassan and continues to haunt him into adulthood.His well off background allowed him to emigrate to USA at a young age during the country's troubled times. He eventually becomes a successful author but the quest of a new life abroad and passing years do little to lift the weight of his guilt. To atone for his childhood sin, he risks his own life by returning to Taliban controlled Kabul to help his dear friend Hassan and finds how time and politics have turned his country and his memories completely upside down.

I am so grateful to have no regrets in my life. I am so fortunate to be living in such comfort with freedom to do what I please and think what I want.  But I realize all this is very fragile and can change suddenly. I wish peace and joy be upon us all.

故事發生在阿富汗復雜變動的歷史大背景， 從君主制倒塌到蘇聯入侵，再被塔利班和美國占領。主要人物阿米爾有個富足的童年，但因為怯懦膽小，他沒有阻止發生在情同手足的仆人哈桑身上的悲劇。直到成年，他都無法原諒自己。戰亂時，良好的家庭背景讓他年紀輕輕就移民到美國，後來還成為成功的作家，但國外的新生活和經年歲月絲毫沒有減輕他心中的罪惡感。為了贖罪，阿米爾冒著生命危險再度踏上由塔利班控制的喀布爾，回到已經被時間和政治改變得面目全非的祖國，幫助他不幸的好友。

我很感激生命中沒什麽遺憾，真幸運生活得如此舒適，可以自由去做喜歡或想做的事。但我知道這一切非常脆弱，可能突遭變故。希望和平和快樂永遠圍繞著大家。“這裏有你重新做回好人的路”
