Ever hear that Tom Waits' tune?
["Step right up, step right up, step right up,
Everyone's a winner, bargains galore
That's right, you too can be the proud owner
Of the quality goes in before the name goes on
One-tenth of a dollar, one-tenth of a dollar, we got service after sales.."](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Txqmgr1k0Y)
Reminds me of ole' PT Barnum himself selling his save-all beans and snake oils..
But folks these days are much too wise to the blatant chicanery of smiling confidence men and gussied up harlots.
So what's a well dressed trickster to do?
Well, first... let's do a few trade offs here and there..
How about...instead of magic beans and man eating tigers, let's bring it to the glory of our times?
Video Games
But of course, these magic disks don't sell themselves. So where oh where are our salacious salesmen?
Yep, I can never turn away from my dark dark past.
A recent trip back to New York City coincided with the official launch of the Ringling Bros and Barnum & Bailey Wii Videogame.
So the circus called me up and asked myself and about a dozen other former and current circus clowns and performers in the area if we could make an appearance on The Today Show to plug the game and then do a series of staged photos for the Associated Press.
Wellllll, this was an opportunity to hang with old friends, play the fool AND get paid? I better step on it!
(can you guess which one's mine?)
It has been awhile since I slapped on the greasepaint outside of the Halloween party. For you readers that aren't aware of what greasepaint is. It's pretty much what your mommies and possibly daddies use but heavier and much much harder to take off.
For about ten years, I would slap the goop on and take it off with baby oil/ vegetable oil/ slice of pizza.
You needed it to stay on pretty thick since you're sweating through it on a three show day and possibly being pied a couple times during those shows. You have to look perfect for all three shows!
No pies for The Today Show but plenty of shenanigans
Here we are right outside the plaza ready to hit the weather spots.
Al Roker wasn't there but we had some fun with Meredith. (I think that was her name)
Then we were off to the Best Buy down in SOHO to take some photos for the press.
While we waited for the press to show. We hung out on the street and held an impromptu juggle session
Then we headed inside and played a few rounds. I don't play that many games but I KICKED ARSE!
Here's one from the Associated Press
Okay..so it wasn't enough that we all got to hang out, play video games, play on the street, eat a couple dozen Two Boots Pizza...we also took a tour of Take Two Interactive's office right next door to the Best Buy. They are the publishers of all kinds of video games including Rockstar Games(Grandtheft Auto, Max Payne) and 2K Play (who makes our game)
The geek in me was really flaring up when I saw this
Overall, good times, good people..
Step right up , Ladies and Gentlemen...
