Live 'n Learn, Live 'n Love

I've just finished reading a book called "WHAT IS THE WHAT" by Dave Egger. When people see me holding the book, they're like.

"What???What book is that? What is the What? What is the What?" This book is far more serious that it sounds. This is an autobiography of Valentino Achak Deng, a couragous boy who was forced to leave his Sudanese village in search of safety. What he went through in his life is far worse then hell. While reading the book, at many times,in his case, I do agree with the author that dying is far easier than living, This is such a heart wrenching novel that I have to share with everyone i know. Like my parents who doesn't read novels, I kept telling them bits and pieces of the book and all the events that happened to this person, Valentino Achak Deng's life is simply disastrous yet all these are taking place in our era. Unlike the World War 2 where we can tell ourselves what has happened is history. Someone's life that is so different from us yet living on the same planet. This is simply unacceptable. This is an eye opening account of life that is recorded into this book that I strongly encourage everyone to read.

Right before reading What is The What, I was reading a Japnese novel name ''Norweigian Wood''. This is a unique novel introduced to me by Stephen from AnD. A special story that draws you into it till months later, time to time, i'm still reminded of this story, of the life and pace of the characters in this novel. I can even smell the air in the story...sounds crazy but i think i really do.............

Comparing the 2 books,  I see the weakness of the people in our modern developed society.  When you watch the news, people commit suicide and become crazy over certain issues that they couldn't face up to. Even primary school kids kill themselves bcuz of poor exam grades. Fathers kill their family because of financial difficulties, boyfriends killing their girlfiends because they can't live without each other.

Read ''What is the What'' and we will feel ashamed of ourselves, of how weak we are when faced with difficulties. If a Sudan boy who has nothing, really nothing, not even clothes, love or food can survive the most brutal war, why can't we people who live in such comfort deal with our own problems?

Now,this Sudan boy who had nothing has a foundation to distribute funds to assist Sudanese refugees. We, who has everything, what are we doing to contribute to make the world a better place?

Strength and will is something we have to believe and build. Life is in your hands. The next time you think you have a big problem, think twice, cuz you are already very fortunate. From the moment we are born, we live each day till we die.No matter how rich or poor you are, you can't take anything to your grave. The journey in between is a mere test and adventure. So enjoy it!

So what if you are prettier? Be more passion driven and not just money driven. The journey in between is a mere test and adventure. So enjoy it!
