i spent a few weeks with a tribe in the jungle of burma a while ago. we stayed in bamboo huts that were made by 7 to 18 year olds. it was one of the most amazing trips of my life. i have to say, these are some of the purest people i've met. they haven't been touched too much by modern technology. their bathroom was a fifteen feet deep hole. it was crazy to watch a nine year old accidentally slice a piece of skin from knuckle to knuckle on his finger by a machete. what blew my mind was that he sat there bleeding quietly (without crying) and didn't say a word or complain. the trip reminded me that we as humans actually have the capability to do and deal with a lot more than we think.
