I had a physically demanding but one of the most wonderful experiences last week being the videographer for Project Orbis.
We had gone to Guangyuan in the Sichuan Province of PR China with one of Greater China’s most popular singers/actors, Mr. Eason Chan, who is their Sight Ambassador. To me, it was a real pleasure and an honour to be working with Eason!
The trip had also made me realize just how lucky I am being born and brought up in Hong Kong with my innate ingrown eyelash problem. Had I been born in Guangyuan instead, I would have definitely become blind by now, like those many less fortunate local people living in the villages and mountains. Now, I just have no more excuses to delay my eye operation (like those poor or ignorant old village people....).
In fact, I had also sponsored for the medical cost for a 61 year old man and his 39 year old son in a village who had taken a long time to save up RMB 3000+ for their medical expenses but only to be stolen as both the daddy and the son are almost totally blind so they are easy preys to those no conscience thieves !
The promotional videos and TV commercial that I am making for Project Orbis should be coming out in late October as I am doing the post production right now. I am also making a Canada version of the promotional video. If I have the time later on, I might make a behind the scene video as well. Following are some leisure shots of the trip to share.
Capturing the street scenes
Mushroom is a specialty there
Chilly Paste of course!
I found a dirty version Wong Wong in the street there!

Eason has so many fans even in the rural areas
The vegetable and sweet corn fields are so beautiful,
but the work of the farmers are so tough and the
sharp blades of the crop leaves often hurt their eyes. The Project Orbis' sponsored local hospital staff was showing us the problems with the eyes of this poor 61-year-old man, whose savings for his medical treatment were stolen by some thieves. In fact, he was suffering from the same innate ingrown eyelash problem as me, but has unfortunately become almost totally blind due to the lack of medical treatment. I had therefore sponsored for the fees of his medical treatment together with one of the volunteer still photographers, Mr. Hisun Wong.
We are now waiting to hear about the result of his tests and treatments.
