FUERZABRUTA: Broadway In Taipei (Nadia's Review)

Are you still sleeping?Fuerzabruta will wake you upA broadway show from Brazil on tour in Taipei, Fuerzabruta set a stage in Shinyi district going at a rate of 2300NTD per person for 80 minutes of stimulating your senses through music, dance, spacial installation & colors, lights, conceptual imagery, cardboard smashing extravaganza... No dialogue.  At most, screaming as a way of expression.So what is this show about? I think for everyone it's different. Welcome to postmodern art.  It's sensorial & experiential & kinestetic.Here's my take on it.This show is about Celebration of the Revolution...... that exists inside us.  That roaring desire and need to express, unleash, roar...... and be free.This actor came off stage and smashed me with a cardboard box over the head and i couldn't stop screaming.  Exhilarating.  I woke the F up from my numbed out Sunday.For 80 minutes, you are reminded of your dreams. You wished you were up there on stage, flying from curtain to curtain in the changing neon lights.  And the DJ on the Scaffold blew music into your brainwaves that brought you high with the crowd. It's like clubbing but way better.  You use your own endorphines to get high.I remembered my raw & passionate New York City theatre & underground days... the pre-commercialism days, when we worked on Truth & Presence, instead of Money & Fame.They stood on Plastic over a thousand of us, water poured on their bodies... as they danced to their rebirth.And the crowd celebrated with them.Nadia
