Being Bruce Lee
Attention New York actors/actresses. Just got this in the email box from my friend Derek Nguyen:
Casting for theatrical performance titled Lee/gendary: a deconstruction of Bruce Lee
For 3 week run at HERE Performance Space, Soho. Performance dates will be October 14, 15, 16, 21, 22, 23, 28, 29, 30. Rehearsals will be in the evening beginning September 8, 2008. This show is a dynamic hybrid of martial arts, dance, music and text. All performers must be strong actors and excellent movers. Experience in Viewpoints training and or dance, martial arts ability a plus.
All actors will play multiple characters as well as act in the ensemble. $100 stipend. Non-equity actors preferred.
Seeking:
1 Asian female: 20s-40s. Beautiful, strong voice and ethereal presence, to play: “Yin” a symbol of enlightenment and purity; a spiritual light. “Betty” a Chinese B actress, Bruce Lee’s lover (must have a Hong Kong/Chinese accent) and “Mother” Bruce’s mother. Must have good movement and vocal abilities,
1 Caucasian female: 20s-40s. To play Linda Lee, Bruce Lee’s wife. Tall, blonde, caring and soft spoken. Must move very well.
1 Male any ethnicity 20s-40s. To play James Coburn, Pierre Berton and others. Must be able to change characters physically and vocally. Martial arts ability a plus.
