Not much going on, apart from trip preparations. For those interested in such, I'm giving a blow-by-blow on Facebook. AnD fans are spared.I think I've experienced another breakthrough with Cantonese. About time is all I can say. I've been slogging away for close to 2 years now, and that last plateau was more akin to a deep trough that I was stuck in for about 6 months. I guess, if you keep at it long enough, any language is bound to yield at some poin...Read more
2010 is going to be the "Year of Hong Kong" for me. It is confirmed, I will be visiting Hong Kong for the first time late March-early April. First task, buy airline tickets and book a hotel. Then I need some new luggage (mine is falling apart and I doubt it can withstand any more airport baggage handling). If the details of preparing for this trip strike me as interesting, I will post them. Last night I dreamed I was walking the streets of Wan Chai. The funny thing is I've never been to Hong Kong. I am planning to go in March, but I haven't been yet. I looked up Hong Kong on the Wiki to see if Wan Chai even exists, or if I just made it up (in your dreams some of the most logical sounding things turn out to be total fiction). Turns out it really does exist, though why I dreamed I was there and not somewhere else in Hong Kong with a name I'm more familiar with, I haven't a clue. This is the third dream I've had in ...Read more
An old boyfriend from college sent me this picture in the mail the other day. How strange it has been that in the past few months all of these people that I haven't had any contact with for decades are showing up in my life again, even though not a one of them even lives within several hundred miles of me.
I don't remember when this picture was taken (I swear my memory has an many holes in it these days as a cheese grater) but, from the setting, the costume and my age when the picture was taken, I suspect it was for a New Y...Read more
