My sister Jane made this for breakfast and I thought it was pretty blog-worthy!
Pigs in a blanket
Some dishes from my CNY dinner:
Cute little buns with mung bean paste stuffing. I almost felt guilty biting their heads off...
People always ask me to give examples of Dutch food. One of them is kale hash with sausage ( boerenkool met worst ) I remember after going on play dates when I was a kid, my parents would ask me what I had for dinner. I would tell them potato with sausage...
To Chinese people it doesn't sound like a proper dish! So my parents told me to bring my friends to our place instead to have a Chinese meal! ;)
I do like potato now and then, so my sister cooked this for me last night!
You just boil some potato for about 15 minutes, then add the sausage and let everything boil for another 8 minutes.
Take out the sausage, mash the potato together with boiled curly kale and add small pieces of crispy bacon, a little bit of milk and butter.
Put the sliced sausage on top and voila: a no nonsense Dutch dish! The German version is sauerkraut mit wurst. It's a very traditional dish that became popular during the harder times and got passed on from generation to generation.
This was tonight's dinner: grilled honey ginger chicken...scrumptious!!!
The cake diet still continues... my sister said she will bake me an apple pie tomorrow, yeay!
Gotta hit the gym again!
