ADVENTURE GIRLS PART 1 - Introduction
Meet the ADVENTURE GIRLS!!!
I have been working on this program for months now and finally I can share with everyone what the show is about! The show will start airing on the 6th of January 2008 on SMG's new international channel. People who live outside of China can watch it online. I will post the links on a later date.
My two other co-hosts are Betty and Sunny! Our show is about three girls who go on different missions in Asia. The missions are send to us through our hand phones by our mysterious boss Howard. Yes, it is a bit like Charlie's Angels! Then there's Shane, he's our producer and director, but he plays a very prominent role in the show as well. Erik is our second unit cameraman but, because the focus group liked him so much, his part became bigger. We call him Nature boy / the Banana...Coz he's yellow on the outside and white on the inside! Anyway, the show is meant to promote a website that is catered to Chinese people who want to learn English. The show is mainly in Mandarin, so for the educational purpose, there are a lot of English dialogues in there.
We didn't film this in chronological order so I will just start with the place that we went to for our first episode!
For the Malaysia sequence we flew to Singapore to do some prep work first. Basically, hanging out in the office, eating and shopping for outdoor clothes...;)
We stayed in Singapore for a few days and on the 5th day we had to get up at 3am. The hotel was a 3 minute walk to the office, so the girls and I there walked with our luggage. It was totally dark outside, the streetlights weren't very bright. From the office we took a touring bus to the border which is close to Senai in Malaysia. At Causeway Link immigration our Chinese photographer realised she forgot to apply for a Malaysian visa. So she had to go back! Luckily we had two photographers!
The good thing about a European passport is that it's much easier to travel around than with a Chinese one!
Anyway, we continued our way to the airport and from there we flew to Kuching. Kuching is the capitol city of Sarawak which is Malaysia's largest state situated on theislandofBorneo. Kuching means cat in the local language and you can see statues of cats everywhere! As soon as we got off the plane we started filming.
When we got to the hotel, we had an hour to rest and freshen up. Then we drove through Kuching looking for all the cat statues. In the late afternoon we shot at this cute restaurant next to the river. As the menu looked pretty good, we decided to have dinner there!
All these pictures are taken by our David Fabulous:
On the bus...As you can see it's pitchblack outside...
Waiting at the airport
Sleepy, but still joking around!
About to board... Erik has fallen asleep again.
Getting on the plane
Erik yawning. It's not easy to be Nature Boy!
Yeah, we've arrived!
Filming at the airport, trying to be bright and perky even though we've only slept for 2 hours!
Here we are being greeted by Shane, Erik and a lady from the tourism board.
Checking in at the hotel.

Going around the markets...
Sniffing, kinda smelled all the same to me. Smelled too many curry powders...
Sunny took these food pics:
I have no idea what that sticky stuff is...
