Q: What bothers you most when you are working on a project?
A: Schedules, high traffic places, lateness, stupid people thinking that they are smart.
Q: When people are making indie films like yourself, what do you think are their greatest challenge?
A: I think when you are not working with a lot of money that is a great challenge. You need to be very influential, you need to have a great ability to storytell. In a way your storytelling must be just as good as your film. I think another challenge is getting the right performer to play your roles. There is not enough dedicated people in Hong Kong. Don't get me wrong, I think a lot of people that are doing indie stuff are really dedicated but there is not enough.
Q: Do you have trouble finding people to be on your crew?
A: Well yes and no.
Q: What do you mean?
A: Well some people are really eager to work with you, but it's hard to get good help. I think for filmmaking you need people that are willing to sacrifice, but most people that want to work with you are really doing it because it is a good way to social and meet with good looking people. You have to remember that this field is only glamorous on the outside.
Q: What do you think is more important, talent or dedication?
A: Well at the end it is talent that will surely excel ones performance, but dedication is important as well. With dedication, you can become an important member of the film crew. However, you need both to be a good director.
Q: How do you deal with the stress and pressure involved with indie filmmaking?
A: Watch films?
Q: And?
A: Make really short films.
Q: Your life is really all around it.
A: Well it has to, in other for one to decide to want to make films for a living. If you don't have this intention then you might as well give up now, for sooner or later something will come up and you will call it quits.
Q: Lastly, what are your plans for the future?
A: I used to aspire to work for someone great. But as I am getting older, I am liking this indie thing more and more. I don't think that it is necessary that someone has to work for a professional crew or studio in order to succeed. Just look at George Lucas. Probably the most successful example.
