When you pick up any type of music or get into any culture it's always important to spend time learning the roots of that music or culture. It makes your connection to the music deeper which in turn will probably allow you to stick with it longer. Our bro Ivan has been with King Ly Chee on drums for almost three years now and the dude continues to fully pay his respects to the origins of hardcore - here he's picking up the song We Gotta Know by the legendary Cromags. When a band gets on stage without having done their research or paid their respects, all their on stage actions and words fall flat. You look like an idiot straight up. Hahahaha... I don't want to say "know your roots" because not a lot of us in Asia actually grew up listening to punk/hardcore. I'd change that phrase to: know THE roots.
