电影快结束了，想不到有什么好的礼物送给我们《投名状》的导演陈可辛先生，这么有勇气请我来演这部戏。想来想去还是送了我《霍元甲》的加长版，我写了两句话给他，一个是送给“Excellent dirctor but so-so producer”，这是个玩笑话，我觉得很有意思，因为整个电影，身兼老板、策划、监制、导演于一身的陈可辛是非常不容易的。处理这么大一个戏，都是我近年来少见的最大的摄制组，600多工作人员，6个摄影师，15个副导演，我真是常常感叹他的勇气，他为追求完美，常常把动作、谈话拍得像爱情戏一样的细腻，抓住每一个人内心的心态。合作很愉快，虽然很辛苦，但学到很多东西，很感谢导演给我这个机会，我也希望我的努力没有让他失望，还是这句话 “Excellent dirctor but so-so producer”，“天才的导演 马马虎虎的制片人。”

The film is almost finished and I had a hard time trying to think of an appropriate gift for our director, Peter Chan. He displayed a lot of courage by inviting me on this film. After contemplating the gift for a while, I decided to give him the director’s cut of FEARLESS. On the DVD, I autographed it and also wrote, “To an excellent director but so-so producer.” This is a joke of course. I think it’s pretty interesting because on THE WARLORDS Peter is the director, the boss, the producer and also the production manager. These are not easy things to balance. I’ve never had the experience of working on such a large production. We regularly have over 600 crew members, 6 cinematographers, 15 assistant directors. I can often feel Peter’s courage. He goes after perfection of artistry. He often captures action as if it is a dramatic sequence. And he’s the expert on capturing the inner feeling of every actor. I really enjoyed this production experience even though it was not easy. I learned a lot of things and am truly appreciative to Peter for giving me this opportunity. I hope that my efforts will not let him down.
