Salsa Sunday

Sunday has arrived and i want to introduce something new here at Eat, Write, Evolve. Salsa Sundays. And it goes a little something like this. Now of course I enjoy my fair share of tacos, burritos, taquitos, & chips; but  i have to say there's a small place in my heart for the salsa. Whether you spoon it on your taco, dunk your chips in it or sneak some home with in your to go container, salsa is what makes any dish more  memorable. Their taste, their heat, their consistency, their ingredients and of course their flavor. I look for new salsa where ever i go, new grocery stores, swap meets, street fairs and the occasional recipe. i find myself on a constant search for the newest, freshest, and hottest salsas out there. So lets begin with our first. El NopalitoRoasted Salsa

i found this little beauty at a locals farmers market store in my neighborhood called Farmer's Harvest. My first day there one of the owners recommended it to me, and i was hooked. Found in the refrigeration section, usually the best place to find the freshest and most flavorful salsas, this is one of many offered by the same company.          This salsa has all the right stuff. fresh ingredients and at a minimum, only 5! At first bite you can taste the robust flavor of the roasted tomatoes and fresh ingredients, but it quickly fades directly into heat. And its a very lingering heat at that, all in all leaving you wanted more. its more on the thin side as consistency goes, but the occasional chunks of chopped cilantro and green onions, which i might add is what really makes this salsa stand out in flavor. there is a fine line in between the roasted flavor and the killer heat at the end where green onion and cilantro aide in the balance between them.8/10 overall
