Tornado Hits Close to My Hometown

L

ast Sunday afternoon, a violent  tornado hit about 14 miles from my hometown in Iowa and even closer to my family farm.

Of course I am so grateful that my family is safe and it did not hit our farm but my heart goes out to the thousands of people who were hurt, killed and lost their  homes and businesses in Parkesburg, Iowa, and the other towns hit in the Midwest.

Since I grew up there, I remember what it is like to be in the middle of a tornado but I never had my home destroyed or my family a...Read more

So you lose your Passport...

So you're traveling, having a great time and someone steals your passport or you just lose it.  No problem right, WRONG!  These days with all the security you might want to be prepared in case you are stuck in a different country and you can't leave or reenter your own country.

Some suggestions for the "just in case" situation.

  1. Make a number of copies of your passport.  Leave one at home with a dependable friend.  You know someone who will actually fax it to you and not use it as a co...Read more

Forbidden Kingdom a Hit in Hollywood!

I went to a screening for The Forbidden Kingdom last week in Hollywood sponsored by a scrīptwriters group.   I loved the movie!  And the crowd did too.  Afterward there was a Q and A  with the writer, John Fusco and actor, Collin Chou.   I am not always a big fan of Q &A but this one was a lot of fun, quite entertaining and actually informative too.  John Fusco brought a lot of experience and insight to the discussion and let Collin do the comedy!   The crowd seemed to enjoy both of them.

I will let all of ...Read more

theatre weekend

So finally I am getting out from under some writing and business.  Luckily I was invited to a fabulous performance of Jekyll & Hyde The Musical at the Cabrilo Music Theatre in Thousand Oaks, California.  What a fantastic  performance.  All the performers did a great job as well as the orchestra but I must mention the lead performers, Robert Townsend as Jekyll/Hyde,  Lulu Lloyd as Lucy and Beth Obregon as Emma.   But I cannot begin to tell you what an amazing performance Robert Townsend did in the lead role.  This is the last weekend but i...Read more

DGA AWARD’S DINNER -  ACTUALLY  IT WAS FUN!

So we all got dressed up and headed out in the impending rain to the Century Plaza Hotel.  Mary, Julia, Dessa and myself, Jeanne, waited in the lobby, champagne in hand waiting for our friend Judy Vogelsang and her husband, Arthur, to arrive.  In the meantime, we were meeting up with friends and people watching.

We had a great table of people and truly enjoyed the dinner which was surprisingly good and the wine flowed.

Although our friend, Judy...Read more
