Less than 24 Hours to Go!

I really appreciate all the support. This is really fantastic.

So, we’re at 28% and there’s less than 24 hours to go. I know this is like a really crazy daunting goal. I guess I really shot for the moon for this one.

But anyways, whether we make our goal, I’m not going to give up on this project. It’s a lot of work, but I’ll find a way to do it. At the end of the year, when I look back, this project is what I want to see.

Let me put it into some context:

So, last year was a really special year because I was on a film tour with Surrogate Valentine, and I was just hustling, going to SXSW and different film festivals, meeting some amazing people, and just really having a blast.

But then, at the end of the year, I looked back on it, and part of me wished that I’d made more time to focus just on music. I did spend a lot of time writing some songs and the score for our latest film, Daylight Savings. But part of me thinks that perhaps I could have balanced it out better.

But, the grass is always greener, and so I wouldn’t exactly call it a regret.

And so this year, I know I want to mix it up. That’s why I’m doing all these Kickstarter projects.

Kickstarter’s a great way for me to just lay out all the projects I want to do this year and go after them one by one. We raised money for the soundtrack and our upcoming film tour, and Dave and I are appreciative of all of the support we’ve gotten there. But this project is separate (and special) and artistically, I just see it as my next challenge.

There’s this quote from Alfred Hitchcock about the importance of being able to see a clear path of creative projects, and not destructive experiences, ahead of oneself. I thought that was really inspiring. I think that’s fundamentally like everyone’s dream, right?

Of course there are obstacles that pop up along the way, and perhaps this is one of them. But that is happiness, I think: having the clear path and being able to see the things you want to do ahead of you. And, for me, I know what I want to do, and this is it.

I don’t want to say that I know exactly how this project will turn out, but I feel like it’ll be pretty awesome just because the people that I am associating with this project are awesome.

And so are all of you who’ve supported me to this point. You’ve been so inspiring, and I would never have been able to do this without you.

So anyways, I hope you’ll join me for my two final webcasts of this campaign. Whether we make our goal or not, it’ll be a grand time. I’ll be joined by Patrick Epino from the National Film Society, and the amazing Tamlyn Tomita. You can come request some songs and hang out with us.
All of the details are here and the webcasts will be on my website: gohnakamura.com.

And of course, if you would help get the word out about the project, that would be awesome!
