atomic bitchwax icky thump

well, it's friday again - so time for another music recommendation. last week I kicked off these recs with queens of the stone age and I'm going to stick to the rock for another week, on an equally freakier but slightly raw-er tip:

which brings me to the atomic bitchwax. make sure you check out their 2006 release boxriff which comprises 4 awesome studio tracks and over a dozen... er... 'raw'... live tracks from a gig at Sunset Tavern, Seattle. the noise from the crowd could be out-takes from discovery channel's biker build-off... and the bar probably doesn't serve lychee fruitinis. anyhow... first link tractor-beams you towards mydeathstar and second link is the band's real web-site which you owe to (both them &) yourself to visit... the world wide web is not myspace (the other half is facebook, clearly)... live dangerous and make that extra click.

if the above is all a bit too much for you  (which I understand, this ain't exactly pop music) then check out the the white stripes current album icky thump. I've had this on rotation for weeks now. apart from the track which just pisses me off. you must buy one of these CDs although I doubt HMV has the former. 

and for all those people who know me for my club releases, I promise to recommend some electronic music very soon. or maybe some underground hip-hop or something really messed up which defies category... but for now I'm just in that guitar headspace. have a good weekend!
