Alright, maybe I am not an early adopter. After perhaps 4 weeks hearing my friends raving about "Twitter", I finally registered an account with them.
But at least I registered the account earlier than, Ellen Degeneres talked about it on her show, and Sydney Morning Harold devoted two pages in The Good Weekend for its phenomenon.
Apparently it's very very VERY up close and personal. It is as if you are with THE person 24/7, who ever you are following. Anyone famous, or not famous, or even infamous.
I guess it's blogging to its extreme. Yes it is hard to come up with blog posts that worth a while reading sometimes. But at least writing an article that talks about something we are interested in, giving some details of how it happened and how we got there, makes sense to most people.
Now what we are facing is an entirely different game.
We suddently have to become a philosopher who can come up with witty/meaningful/sarcastic/cruel sentence that is completed in 140 words.
At the moment I only have 2 people "following" me. They are my colleagues sitting next to me. They don't need twitter to know what I am doing, because I am doing things right next to them. I guess you could call it "pity following".
But hey at least I've got time and room to improve my thought process, so I can come up with something that worth reading in, 140 words. (Not like this long post. Thank you for reading it by the way!)
