My View on Dance/Movement Therapy

Hey everyone ,

As you may or may not know about my other identity apart from being a performer. I am also getting my credentials in Dance/Movement Therapy ( and Drama Therapy, Child Life Specialist and Counselor but we'll stick to Dance/Movement Therapy for this blog :P) .

So Dance/Movement Therapy is a specialty in Counseling which we use movement as a tool to communicate with my clients and help them to express their emotions and process different experience. Clients do not have to 'dance' in  traditional sense and movement can happen in any level including in breathing, heart rate and in our imagination. Therefore it is suitable able folks who have limited mobility....

Here is an essay I wrote about Dance/Movement Therapy and what I am hoping to get out of the annual Dance/Movement Therapy Conference organized by the American Dance Therapy Association which is happening on Thur- Sun in Minneapolis.
