Last Wednesday night I returned to Mark-1 Studios to finish recording the vocals for the Underground Compilation cd.
I knew exactly what I wanted to do before I got there (which is always good!).
I started with 'Don't quit your day job' which actually sounded pretty good before I did any touching up. Koya had already began to mix the song and I was liking how it was turning out. What I did was put two extra vocal tracks, one high and one low, over the top of the existing one. These vocal tracks on their own would sound pretty crap, but the idea was that when they are mixed it would give it more of a harmony.
After that, I moved onto Man Love! which had no mixing done to it at all, so it sounded very raw. I concentrated on the last part of the song with the two 'save me's'. It didn't turn out as well as I would have liked. I have to hold the note for so long, but I didn't have the breath for it. I worry that it will pale in comparison to the recording done at K-town.
It should be alright though. I worry too much. I should have more confidence in myself. In the last blog I mentioned that I didn't think that my performance was the best at the LKF Beer Festival . I was worried that my voice wouldn't sound good because I had been recovering from being ill and because of my performance the night before. Since then, I have been able to have a look at the footage and I am pleasantly surprised with the result.
Here is the footage from the LKF Beer Festival
Enjoy!
