Last Saturday night FBI performed for the Tribute to Nirvana show and we got the crowd warmed up for things to come. It was great! We played three Nirvana covers; Heart Shaped Box, Come as you are AND About a girl. I can really say that we played it better than any practices we had. For me especially, the fact that I didn't make any mistakes with the lyrics was a big thing. I went away feeling very happy with myself indeed.
Unfortunately for me, I couldn't stay to support the other bands. As soon as I got off the stage I left BACKSTAGE and I ran over to the Fringe Club where I was going to be the MC for the night. I had a ten minute interval between when I finished our show and when I was supposed to open for the first band. So, I ran. haha! Turns out that the show was going to be delayed for ten minutes anyway, so I ran for nothing. Better to be early than late though.
I am really getting the hang of this MC deally. Only looking at my cue cards once or twice for the whole night and really enjoying what I was doing. The HK Live! show was awesome. Poubelle International really put on a great show and for me were the most entertaining opening band that I have ever seen. Their songs are simple, but catchy. Every song had a great drum beat that you wanted to clap your hands to. They really set the bar for the next band, The Lovesong, who came on and had to work extra hard to keep the crowd enthralled. But, they were also up to the task. Not as good as the first band, in my opinion. But, different in style. I didn't really get to see much of the third band... sorry guys. 'Cos I was outside chatting and relaxing. I needed abit of a break as the first two bands almost blew my ears off. What I did see of the last band was really impressive.
After the show I went to Senses with the guys from HK magazine and Poubelle International. I drunkedly got on the mic and started singing for abit while Shaun from The David Bowie Knives played on the drums and randoms played on guitars. It was the wee hours of the morning by now and I stumbled back to Central to get to a Kowloon taxi. Really a great night all round.
