A Night of Threesomes

This blog is titled ‘A night of threesomes’ for many reasons. The first reason is that I had three things to do that night. 1: I had to do a performance with F.B.I. at the alivenotdead anniversary party. 2: I had to MC HK Live!. 3: I had to do an interview for Choochootv.
The second reason that this blog is named so is because there were three events that I knew about that were on this night; the alivenotdead party at Grappa’s cellar, HK Live! at The Fringe Club and ‘A night of threesome’ at Backstage. Later on I found out that there were two more shows on the same night. Now, come on people… how come there is so many good shows on the one night?
This was quite a stressful night for me and I think it really showed through my performance at the show. I had already had commitments to MC HK Live! and needed to be there by 10:20pm. It would’ve been alright had the alivenotdead party started half an hour later than planned. This really made it super tight for me as I needed to leave as soon as FBI’s set was over. It all turned out well in the end, but I couldn’t help thinking that it may have affected my performance.
I didn’t really feel comfortable on stage, plus the stage was so huge I didn’t know what to do. It was also hard to see the crowd’s expression as the light was right in my eyes, so I wasn’t really feeling it from the audience until the end of the song. I jumped around like crazy during ‘The Masquerade’ and chipped my tooth TWICE, yep, twice. Fucking really sucks. But, it wasn’t a huge chip so I shouldn’t really worry about it. But, it put me off during the song and I began to sing freestyle and repeat some words. It fit well with the song though and I am sure that noone else noticed it, but myself. But, I am still beating myself over it.
Plus another thing is that it is always good to hear some feedback after the show, and I didn’t have time to stick around and get any compliments from the crowd. Except for a girl who stopped me before I left to say that she really liked my music. I heard later on that the guys from 24 Herbs said that they really liked our rap song, but once again, I was not there to get the thanks and therefore left out worrying about my performance. I know I can do better… and I guess it was a warning in a way. We will join the final of the M1 Bar competition next month and we really need to buckle down and improve our tightness. I don’t often make the same mistake twice. And no tooth chipping this time either.
Well, in the end I got to HK Live! on time and with plenty of time to spare. The show started late anyway and I wondered why I even bothered worrying for. Thanks Joanne for stressing me out! This was the last time I would MC and I did a fantastic job, even by my own standards. Even though there was not much of a crowd I still got a good response, especially when I spoke in Cantonese.
Another stress was waiting to do my interview for Choochootv’s HK Live! channel with the band, Twin Lobster, from the prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" /Philippines. Yet, I breezed through that aswell and didn’t even need to look at my notes. The guys were fun to talk to and I ended up taking them out to Senses where we had a little jam and I sang a little bit. Finally, all of my responsibilities were over and I was able to enjoy the night.
Even though it was a fun night, I am so glad that it is over and done with.
I don’t think I will be having a night of threesomes anymore.
