Hawaii has always been a favorite place of mine. Like a 3rd, or 4th home to me really. Some of my best friends live here and I visit as often as I can. It's the perfect place to come back to the States to after being in Asia. A halfway point. The distance, time difference, blend of Asian-American, it's perfect. Not to mention the obvious stuff...
I think I said on here some time ago 2009 was great while 2010 wasn't as much. 2011? I'm in love with you!
January was busy in China working on RZA's The...Read more
Reminiscing and being thankful here in the last week of the year...In the grand scheme of things, I'd have to say 2009 was a better year than 2010 for me. It's all relative and that's not to say 2010 was bad, but there were some curveballs in '10, things I'll chalk up to lessons learned. There were certainly some memorable events as well, such as - 408 Films watching and both go through very successful global festival runs, setting themselves up for nice post-fest plans, including the release of TPISW on the big scr...Read more
Actually I've heard of that word before. I think there are a couple of companies out there, or film funds, named that. To me, it represents the movement, or rather the attempted movement for now, of the Chinese film community to globalize their product, i.e. - make films that people the world over, and especially the West, will clamor to go see. Much like the way Hollywood movies get eaten up like soup dumplings in China. It's no secret that all things China currently are interested in breaking the mold and finding mainstream success th...Read more
This is a bit overdue, but after our event wrapped, there was separation from state for a few weeks as it was completely necessary. Not the day after, but about a week after Frexh ended on Aug 7th, I took off with my friend who came out from NYC to help me run things for a jaunt around Hong Kong and some Southeast Asia countries. I'd been to a lot of these places, but it was my friend's first time, so it was cool helping him see new things and meet new friends. I got to see some spots in Thailand for the first time as well as Penang (wh...Read more
I feel like the last 3 weeks has been one long day. I think it's Friday, but I'm not too sure.
I wish I could plug and chug the videos off of the Frexh site on here directly, but it's hard here in China. No Youtube and what not. It feels like the VPN services are getting worse and worse too. The great firewall is catching up!
Well, take a peek in case you haven't been recently. A couple new videos up on www.frexh.com. My video editor buddy......Read more

There's this interesting trend happening right now in Asia - here in China in particular that I see. (HK too). It's not exactly new but at the same time because of the kinds of people involved with it, there is no doubt that it's been a bit eyebrow raising.
Asian American actors have been coming back to their 'mother' land for years to take a crack at the biz. I've seen them come and go and for ones like Daniel Wu, Maggie Q, and my old college friend Allan Wu, this side of the pond has treated them wel...Read more

This is for any Beijing'ers out there...a quick plug for my dear friends who have a short film playing in Beijing this Friday! It's a nice little story set in New York. In addition to getting out to see FOG, I hope any film lovers will take some time out to see THE BRIDGE.
