I felt awful this morning - that's mainly because last night was so fun! Jto, we need you back man, you're missing out, and my prediction might come true. For those you that don't know, Dax Phelan, our esteemed screen writer, is currently taking residence at the Tobin Mansion whilst he's away in Cali (echo - Cali). I told Dax, 'You know, you'll probably still be here when he gets back'. Dax shrugged, and quietly agreed. This happened about a month ago. So in a weird way, I might be right.
Now as for last night, I had an appointment in the afternoon with another photographer friend of mine plus I figure I'll hang out with the guy till 6 or so, eat some grub with the Dax and head over to the show. Around 6 or so I leave my friends place and head over to Cul-de-Sac, a little eatery and bar over in LKF. I sit down start drinking my beer, read the rss feeds of the day and all of a sudden Don Cruz calls me - 'Dude, you're in Central? I've been bumming around for the last 2 hours, I'll be over there in 5.' Cool, company. So we start drinking some beers, Dax shows up and later Adrian and Glen from Audio Traffic show up.
730 - Relocate to the gallery. This was a fun show. I remembered the place as a gallery before with well price art pieces for rich people that don't care about art. Its really a shame because art in the States or even in the UK is well received and even modern Chinese art is making its way overseas. Has it got something to do with the culture or the fact that nobody has space for art or people only care about money and gadgets. I can go on and on about this but lets leave that for later.
If you haven't seen the show, you should. Wing Shya is probably the most well recognized names in Hong Kong photography.
where was I, oh, back to the gallery. So people start rolling in, I see for the first time Jto's completed short with Dan as the Boxer (I did the stills for the ring scenes, missed out on the day training and running). I was really surprised to see Terence back in town for the day (he's shooting in China right now, and I believe he's back over there). And then I bummed into my favorite 'R' Rosy (Rosy, I haven't met your sister yet so if and when I meet her and I decide I like her more than you, no hard feelings, right? Joking, no seriously, joking). Now if you're one of those types that really likes reading all the comments to see the course of the conversation - i.e. like me - you notice that I commented on Rosy's Lasik surgery pictures, well, I basically I teased cause that all I have left. So fast forward to the gallery and I greeted her and asked her if she'd seen my comment I had left for her. I don't remember what she say exactly cause remember I was a little lubed (intoxicated) but it was something in the order of 1) a light playful slap, and 2) 'You're so mean!' and threw a drink in my face - wait, that didn't happen. That was my flare for dramatics, something of a daytime drama non sequitur. no, number 2 should be just a 'you're so mean' and a the cute pouty look that you can imagine Rosy giving someone. All playful too.
Anyway, the room moved up stairs to the performance event, 24 herbs, Dan the Automator. Drinks, more drinks. I think I lost track of the guys a couple of times. Wandered like a drunk. somehow we moved to another club, then I think I bailed. Autopilot now. Food, yum. Bus, check. I found myself, sometime in the morning in bed with my clothes still on. Sexy.
And that concludes my story. Don should have a good story, maybe, in the next couple of days, if he gets out of bed. Dax might write one to counter the weakness in my prose. Dan has one already so read his too. I'm got to clean up now, think about whats happening today.
Diesel's the one to thank for this one - awesome joint. If I have the money, I'd love to throw an exhibition there too.
Later dudes
