ZOO YORK STATE OF MIND

I used to really really like Zoo York because how could you not?… Jeff Pang, Peter Bici, Robbie Gangemi, Todd Jordan, Danny Supa, Harold Hunter.

YES, I’m talking about back back in the day, pretty much when it was first started. Remember, when Futura was doing graphics for them?

Anyway, Zoo York was bought by Ecko quite sometime ago and I didn’t pay any attention to it.

It went from dope to whatever to…pretty much sucks!

BUT one thing remains the same is that, the team is still dope even with their new riders on board and I can say the skating is stronger!

I have to give RB Umali a double thumbs up for keeping the team together and keeping the Zoo York skateboarding still to what it should be.

With Zered Basset the last OG team standing with new faces like Brandon Westgate, Ron Deily and Matt Miller, Zoo York is DOPE again!

I have the chance to hang out with the NEW Zoo York team along with their NEW team manager, Seamus.

All I have to say is although, the vibe is totally different but the warm, nice and friendly vibe from the new Zoo York team is the same as the OLD team that I knew back in the day.

Don’t get me wrong, I still miss the OLD Zoo York but I’m backing the NEW Zoo York as well.

A couple of days ago, I received the ZOO YORK NEWEST DVD called STATE OF MIND. I was psyched as some of the riders are actually my favorites.

Here’s a little review:

Brandon Westgate

Are you fuckin kidding me? Can a skateboarder have that much pop without long braids on his head? Can any wine maker skate that damn good?

A rare rare breed, Brandon is so fucking amazing on his skateboard and yo, he’s not boring.

His future in skateboarding is so fucking bright. Props to RB for putting him as the opener. I love to watch Brandon skate.

Matt Miller

Another NEW cat that I’m feeling. Nollie for days, another mad pop with dope steez. I love Matt.

Chaz Ortiz

B - O - R - I - N - G. Don’t get me wrong, he’s ill as fuck but I’m just not down with young young skateboarders unless your name ends with Mariano.

Donny Barley

Everybody stand the fuck up and show respect to one of the illest EAST COAST skateboarders living.

Not to mention, one of the illest styles for a human being that ever stood on a skateboard.

Donny Barley motherfucker, the illest! That’s why no one can hate on Zoo York as long as they have Donny on the team.

He makes me want to buy and wear baggy Dickies, I tried but I look like a midget rocking baggy Dickies, I cried out loud and realized, I’m not fuckin D Barley sun.

Love watching him skate since 411VM era. Simply, the dopest. Not to mentioned that he’s one of the nicest people around. Respect!

Ron Deily

Another NEW cat thats good to watch, good steez, he has that old bones in him (you know, like Alex Olson). That old 80’s era bones in him.

Hard to explain but from watching him skate, I know this cat knows what’s up. No wonder I see him rocking Vans on his feet instead of ZY.

Kevin Taylor

I’m backing Kevin since Aesthetics. I can just watch KT backside 180 fakie nosegrind 3 hours in a day, I don’t mind.

Anthony Shetler

I’m not a big fan of his skating style but I’m backing Anthony 110% cause I fuckin love this guy!

He’s an amazing fun person. What up Anthony?

Forrest Kirby

When F O R E rides on his two wheels, Joey Red Bull was probably only 6 years old! That’s what balance is all about.

Joey Red Bull is amazing but he’s amazing in the club for sure. Forrest is different, F O R E can pretty much do everything if he wants to.

FUCK, this cat is amazing ever since day one. Forrest and Kenny Anderson double handedly save Adio from vanishing from this side of the world.

Lamare Hemmings

It’s weird, I’m not a big fan of him when I look at his photos, I don’t know why, is it the long legs? I don’t know

BUT when I watched his part, I was fuckin amazed, this Lamare kid is good as fuck yo with amazing style.

No wonder Tim (Gavin) put him on the DVS team, there’s always a reason.

Aaron Suski

I remember telling Jeff Pang that I’m not down with Aaron’s style but Jeff’s backing him hard.

OG 5BORO sun, Aaron Suski’s style grows on me. I’m not mad but won’t watch his part that many times though.

Eli Reed

I’m confused with Eli, don’t get me wrong, he’s one of the most amazing East Coast riders but style wise…um…um…, it’s good, it’s good. Whatever.

Zered Bassett

FUCK YEAH MOTHERFUCKER, Zered Bassett. I remember when he first came to Hong Kong with Jeff (Pang) and Eli (Gesner), this kid is unbelieveable.

No fuckin doubt, one of the best. He’s a BEAST, no doubt. He deserves everything he gets and he’s also one skateboarder that SAVED the ZOO.

Overall, State of Mind is a dope DVD, definitely got to watch it. GOOD skateboarding and good editing.

GOOD JOB RB, you are dope sun, we miss you over here in HK sun. Come back aight.
