Kayi's critique | 關於Kayi的惡評

I have an afterthought I'd like to share with some of you...

After tonight's Mr. Hk Show serving as a judge, it reminded me that everyone's opinion of what qualifies as a beautiful person is all different. We all have different standards and different qualities that attracts us. My choice can be different than the person sitting next to me (and it was!) as it might be different from that of yours. Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder.

The reason why I'm speaking of this is that I want to express my feelings towards some harsh comments I've read regarding Kayi (mhk 07) regarding her weight. Firstly, to judge a person soley on how she looks on camera/screen is very unfair. We ALL know that the camera adds an extra 9 pounds so it doesn't do anyone justice to judge soley on photos. Secondly, the judges had the benefit of meeting all 16 contestants face-to-face... to understand their true personalities and in doing that, can compare their personalities with other contestants before making their choices.  I've met her many times in person and she is beautiful and well mannered. It was after the second time that I met her that I decided that she was my choice for the winner and that night I was very happy to see my choice come out as the champion. Regardless, I give her props for the way she's handling this and personally support her 100%.

Let's all remember not to judge a book by it's cover and to remember that a good miss hong kong is someone that should be well-balanced and not someone who is strong in only one aspect of the competition. HK should be happy to have such a strong character as Kayi's to represent us and to give her words of encourgement instead of critism. She will be representing us for this year, what will the rest of world think of us & our values if we so harshly criticize one of our own? ...|想跟你們分享我的一些想法…

今晚做完”香港先生”選舉比賽評委之後，我意識到每個人對美的評價標準完全不同，大家都用不同的基準和品質來衡量某個人是否吸引我們。我和坐在旁邊的人的選擇都有可能不同（事實也的確如此），在那麽多觀眾眼中的美就更加有差異了。

為什麽這麽說呢，讀了一些關於Kayi(07港姐冠軍)體重的負面評價，我想對這些刺耳的聲音表達自己的看法。首先，只憑在相機或攝影機下的形象來評價一個人非常不公平。我們都知道相機會讓人看起來胖9磅，所以不能單憑相片做判斷。第二，比賽的評委能跟16位選手面對面接觸…可以近距離了解他們的真實個性，加以比較再做出選擇決定。我和她個人碰面好多次了，她漂亮、非常有禮貌。在第二次碰面之後，我就認定她是我心目中的冠軍人選。那晚我非常開心自己的選擇是正確的，她果然奪得了冠軍。無論如何，我個人100%支持她，她當之無愧。

就象不能只憑封面就給一本書下定論，好的香港小姐應當是各方面實力均衡，而不是單看某一方面。象Kayi這樣具備好品質的港姐被選舉出來，香港應該感到高興，我們理應給她鼓勵而不是責難。她今年代表香港，聽到我們如此苛責自己人，世界上的其他人會怎麽看我們？…
