This is a pretty huge statement. The Department of Justice has basically said that they support the peaceful protesting of the pipeline and that "this case has highlighted the need for a serious discussion on whether there should be nationwide reform with respect to considering tribes’ views on these types of infrastructure projects." The problem is that the pipeline was pushing forward without having a clear legal right to do so. The corporations lost this round and peaceful protest won.
