Many years ago an acting teacher shared this thought with me:
"Forgiveness is something you do for yourself and not for others."
I found it interesting just because it's simple, but something I hadn't really thought about before. I think it's hard to forgive sometimes - yet the beneficiary really is the forgiver. If you do not forgive, you carry around the anger or pain. If you can forgive, you are releasing your obligation to feel that anger or pain.
It's a tough one and I'm not a master at this though I respect the notion.
But sometimes the person you need to forgive is yourself. And that can be even harder.
