Today I crossed over 100,000 views.
THANK YOU I'm very touched and honored that people have any interest in my thoughts.
I've been asked why I don't blog about myself as much as I do about concepts, methodologies and observations. I actually feel that in talking about these things I am revealing more about who I am and how I think than if I were to tell you about my recent trip to somewhere.
I do wish I could share more of my work more often, but it can take up to 2 years before I am allowed to show something I've worked on and sometimes I feel that by that time it's simply too late to share. I will try to put up more work soon though.
I was curious what my most popular blogs have been so far, so I looked through the view count and the number one most viewed blog was.... (the envelope please....):
The Truth About MRirian magibon 4974 views (at the time I'm writing this). I wrote about her phenomenon twice more with:
Are You Ready? [Magibon Revealed]
Types of Nothing [Magibon conclusion] At the time, Magibon fever was sweeping the youtube savvy internet watchers and apparently this must have been picked up by google because I'm pretty sure all these views were not just from alive members.
Keeping keyword titillation in mind (...and I don't use that word mistakenly :) ...), the second most viewed blog is probably no big surprise; with 3785 views:
Miley Cyrus Topless & Pedophilia
So, with this in mind, from this point on I will only be discussing art when I can focus it on seemingly under aged girls in moments of controversy.
:-)
Of course, I'm joking. However, this does underscore a very important lesson about marketing which I actually learned from a news assistant when I was writing and directing opera for street performances and trying to get noticed. A kind news room assistant once told me; "When you're trying to get media coverage, you need to attach yourself to the issue that there is a demand for. If everyone is talking about the economy - you need to put your production in the context of the economy so that reporters may view you as a possible new angle to explore the subject which they're by now desperately looking for original angles on." This was one piece of advice which made perfect sense when I heard it and it has remained true for many years.
This isn't that far removed from attaching "name" actors to your movie. The actor is a "name" because they're getting publicity already and by attaching them to your film, you get publicity as a result. This is why studios and producers can justify their cost because it's not coming from the production budget, it's coming from the marketing budget essentially.
Yes, I know, I couldn't just say "thanks for the 100,000 views" - I had to put a spin on it. Well, that's just me and if you've been reading my 157 blogs... you've probably figured that out by now.
:-)
Oh, thanks for the 100,000 views.
