Asian Movie Review: Princess and the Seven Kungfu Masters (笑功震武林,2013)

Just got back from the HK premiere of "The Princess and the Seven Kungfu Masters", the new Wong Jing comedy.  As the title implies,  this one is centered around martial arts.  It has an all star cast including Sandra Ng, Ronald Cheng, Eric Tsang, Wong Cho Lam, Jo Kuk, Sammo Hung and Philip Ng.  Suppo...Read more

Freaky Kigurumi Costume Shops in Shenzhen

Yesterday I went up to Shenzhen for some shopping.  I was headed up to some shops near the Hong Ling subway station (红岭站, on the Blue line).   It was my first time here and I was quite surprised when I exited from gate D.

It turns out the entire block is full of stores selling costumes of all sorts, including furr...Read more

Airsoft Stores in Hong Kong (Where to Go in Mongkok for everything Airsoft!)

Last night I went to Mongkok after work to see what kind of airsoft related stores they had there.  Since I went to do it in HK for the first time a few weeks ago (and played against some people who have their own arsenals of fancy guns and uniforms), I have been thinking about getting a bit of gear of my own. (yes, just what I need, another ...Read more

US Movie Review: Django Unchained (2012)

Finally went to see "Django" last night at the theater last night while I still had the chance.  I was somewhat ambivalent to see this film because I'm not really a big Tarantino fan. As much as I like certain aspects of them,  I really get turned off by the over the top sadistic nature of many scenes. I don't think torture and dismemberment make good entertainment for some reason... :-P

Asian Movie Review: The Grandmaster (一代宗師, 2013)

A year or so before Donnie Yen's "Ip Man" came out there were news stories that there were actually two films about Wing Chun master Yip Man in production at the same time. One was Donnie's version, and the other one was by Wong Kar Wai,  the famed artistic filmmaker who brought us modern day classics "Chungking Express", "In the Mood for Love" and "2046".  For an acclaimed arthouse director like this,  a kungfu bio pic seemed like a strange match… especially sta...Read more

Asian Movie Review: Young and Dangerous: Reloaded (古惑仔:江湖新秩序, 2013)

Last night I was lucky enough to get an invite from Phil to the HK premiere of the new Young and Dangerous 'reboot' film in Mongkok.  The Chinese title is "古惑仔:江湖新秩序" aka "Young and Dangerous: Reloaded".  I'll share a few pics from the premiere separately, but in the meanwhile, here's an early review (the film comes out in HK and Singapore on Thursday the 10th of January btw).

Pattaya: Indoor Gun Shooting in Pattaya

Tiffany's Shooting Range in Pattaya, including pricing![](/attachments/2012/12/28/13/23002_201212281325442.thumb.jpg)As I mentioned a few days back, I took a quick trip to Pattaya, Thailand this week.  On the second day we did scuba (another blog entry I have yet to write), but on the 3rd day I didn't have anything planned, so we decided to see what else Pattaya had to offer that wasn't sleazy and/or didn't involve the transgendered.  When we found out ...Read more

Club Gala's Opening Night

Last week I went to the opening night party for a new club in Hong Kong, called Gala's.    Its on Lyndhurst Terrace across from Hyde (recently relaunched as "Nova" from what I understand).     Gala's is designed by the same people who did Cubic in Mac...Read more
