too busy to blog in a lot of detail, so here's some quick pictures from the first half of Friday in Tokyo... 。。
a shot from the recently built elevated rail system which cleanly and quickly conveys you to the rest of Tokyo's confusing public transit system...
Here's Nippori station... less clean and efficient, but gets the job done.
The casual observer will immediately note the japanese school girl in her uniform in the picture, but the keen observer will also notice the lolita in the weird pink outfit off to the right...
For the sake of my blog, I discretely snapped a 2nd picture... actually her outfit is relatively tame for Tokyo... :-P 。。
my destination (after lunch) was Tsukiji (築地) home of the famous Tsukiji Fish Market (築地市場): 昼ご飯後、築地で会議をした。 。。
thats part of it at least... actually I didn't go in to see the market... for several reasons... first of all it was already 1:30pm, so most of the stuff was closed up for the day (everything starts here before dawn and ends before lunch apparently). and also because I hate fish...
But since we had 20 minutes to kill before the meeting, we walked around some of the places that were still open...
Well apparently someone's making sushi! i guess you know its fresh, it only had to go about 100 feet... :-P
In case you are curious my meetings went well, with some help from our AnD Tokyo support crew! ;-)
After the 2nd meeting I went to Harajuku(原宿) to meet up with Patrick...
I waited for him at the famous bridge where all the weird clothing people normally hang out....
but since it was Friday afternoon, not many around...
(for REAL Harajuku Girls, please refer to my photo album from previous trips!)
Actually there was some kind of concert at Yoyogi about to start, so there were vendors setting up stands with pictures of some boyband guys... it wasn't smap, so I didn't recognize them. :-P
Actually, there was ONE strangely dressed person at the bridge (complete w/ zoom-in!)
oh yeah baby... thats the wayI like it... rosy cheeked and bearded...
not sure, but i think these two girls still win for the two cutest harajuku girls of all time...
After pat showed up, we made a quick trip over to Shinjuku(新宿)... which was without Incident.... (bad joke).
I had never been to this part of Shinjuku, but there was a nice cominbation of restaurants and shops...
with lots of pachinko places mixed in too...
its Gaia! According to that sign... home of the Seven Samurai?
on the way back to the station:
wow, Patrick is a qi-gong master!
actually its not one of Phil's fancy photoshop tricks... its just some high tech public art piece that lights up where you touch...
it didn't work super great... but interesting none the less...
this was just the first part of Friday... there was more to come, but you'll have to wait til tomorrow...
