“im sorry, i can’t understand you.”

so i will be in a group show for ‘the hive gallery’ in about a week - this is what i am contributing:

“i’m sorry, i can’t understand you.”

the theme of the show is “bee here now: a higher level of thinking” and i chose the concept of sixth sense.

a few years ago i had really horrible nightmares or sleep trauma. usually i saw things attack me in my sleep. my best friend told me that if people were trying to get my attention and talk to me in my sleep, i should listen. reluctant, i said i would try.

one night i woke up from my sleep and i saw someone standing in front of me. it was dark, but they were uplit, and see-through shades of white. it had three faces, one staring at me and two each side of its face. i asked, ‘can i help you?’ the person started talking, but its mouths were moving all at the same time, and the face that was facing me had two sets of mouths overlapping each other. i said, ‘i’m sorry, i can’t understand you.’ the thing kept talking and i said, ‘i have to go to sleep now, so you will have to leave…. fuck off i have to go to bed.’ it looked at me and walked through the wall and disappeared. i fell back asleep. this was the least aggressive episode i have ever had.

the depiction is not quite literal, but its close. and the bees are a tribute to the hive gallery, since the show is encouraged to be ‘bee’ themed.
