The Dark Knight

I don't normally blog about subject matter apart from my work, but this time I'm going to make an exception. Thanks to a last minute decision, last night I had the honour of catching the press screening for THE DARK KNIGHT in IMAX. I have been thinking about what to say about this film that will do it justice but I can't. Being one a huge Bat-fan I was very much looking forward to this movie. The trailers, the viral marketing [which is probably the most well planned and conceived viral marketing for a film], the total hype that surrounded this film just guaranteed that it would be amazing, and it did not disappoint in any way.

To be honest I couldn't think of a bad thing about the movie. There may have been parts that were questionable- hell what am I saying. This movie is the shit. The story, the direction, the performances and even the goddam soundtrack. The first thing my friend said when we left the cinema was 'I knew it was gonna be good, but I didn't know it be would be that f***ing good'.

And what they say about Heath Ledger? He was born for the role. I actually couldn't believe that the film was a PG13- there were parts that made me cringe. The Dark Knight is a perfect title for the film- the tone and mood was totally taken away from that of the first one. It was some next level shit. I was literally on the edge of my seat throughout the whole film. I think it's the first time I have seen a comic book adaptation that has not stuck to the original story but pulled it off in a way that makes me think 'you know what- that's alright'.

Go to see it. I already have two more screenings planned. As Kevin Smith said 'The Godfather part 2 of comic book movies'. Hell, I wouldn't even class it as a comic book movie. It's a great Film.
