Last friday, got a chance to go to a super cool event / party. “ This Brutal House” by Simon Birch is a collabo exhibition with photographer Wing Shya. The exhibition was simultaneously open in three locations, we went to the new gallery which is located at the old SixKeyz location. The exhibition included live performance, video, photos & of course, dope paintings by Simon Birch. Here is my homie Jimmy HK in a mask with some girlys.
A number of my friends who participated in the ‘performance’ & Simon himself were wearing these masks & mingling with the crowd, while Wing Shya took pics of them.Andy standing on a stage shooting pics of the crowd.
Right in the middle of the the exhibition, there was this tank of little fighting fish. They weren’t really fighting. Some hippy foreign people were all trying to cause a scene about this fish tank & they wrote shit on the tank:
A lot more drama happened because of these people, but thats another blog story.
Back to interesting stuff. Pretty girls tend to come & look at the fish, so you just have to wait around & pretend you are looking & shooting pics of the fish & you can get shots like this.Back to the paintings, Simon’s paintings are amazing. Simon uses friends for models, here is lovely Carol, with Simon’s Painting of her.In fact there were two paintings of her.
I wore glasses this night, trying to look more intellectual & artsy.Wine flowed, & what was really delicious was the mini-burgers they were serving:The dude in this last pic does not really compliment the burgers, check out the next pic.Don’t these burgers look yummy now? The 2 burger models are Annie & Michelle, who make anything look good / yummy.
Many other friends came to the exhibition & enjoyed the burgers. Ryan, Patrick & CandaceRyan & Candace, ‘What’s up!’
Missed skating with you this week, homie.Anyway …back to shots of Michelle:This was around the time everyone wanted to shoot pics…
I really look like “ham-sup uncle” with these glasses on.I tried to shoot pics of the girls & try make their legs look longer, there is a ‘technique’.
Above pic is Carol & leggy Andree….
Another pic of Michelle…“Nice”
Andree….The other part of the exhibition had some audio visual exhibition by Wing Shya.We took advantage of the projected images to shoot some pics, the girls rocked it!In my opinion, the best shot that night was of Jessica:H-O-T. Jessica is definitely ROCKED for the camera.(Here’s a photo of a dude (also called Jimmy, coz Andree was saying that I was just paying attention to all the girls, so I shot this pic of him to pretend I was not.)Thanks again to the girlz for letting me shoot pics of them, it was fun. ( FUN!) "What! What!" - "Jimmy HK" a.k.a. F***in Jimmy.
Let's go skate again soon, pal, & I'll drink you under the table for sure next time.Wish I could have stayed longer… had to rush over to the 24HERBS performance … but thats another blog…
